Winner at the 2018 Handbag Designer Awards!
What a night! Thank you to all of you who voted, inspired and cheerleaded me all the way to New York City!
I am so grateful for your support and so proud to bring home the award for best yoga bag.
What's more is that I've got an exciting announcement to make soon. (After all the secret talks have taken place!)
The SVA Theatre in Manhatten, NYC
Far from a competitive atmosphere, we had a blast! The awards is a unique event that brings together the handbag design community. It's so inspiring to meet others who share the same dreams and goals. We get to share stories and experiences and find out how similar and yet personal all our careers are!
A great place to share experiences and make new friends!

The Pure and Natural Yoga Bag Inspired by Taja Coconut
It all starts with a sketch:
After being picked as a finalist we have just 3 weeks to turn our sketch into reality.
All our bags are then sent off to the judges. This happens before we are allowed to broadcast our nomination. It's so hard keeping it quiet, I just want to shout about it from the rooftops!
Here is me collecting my award from Hallie Lorber of Taja Coconut and finding out that they are going to be producing my design as part of their brand launch!
Preparing to speak to a hall full of people
In the past 3 years I have been fortunate to come to these awards 3 times. Even so I am still a little bit nervous, especially with the prospect of standing up and talking to a hall full of people!
A sea of people!
Before each event I have developed a little exercise to help calm my nerves. I go to the lakeside (in Central Park), and talk to the 'sea of people' in front of me. It definitely helps my nerves especially after...
I left my speech in a different handbag!
Despite my calming preparations I realised that a quick handbag swap before I left the appartment meant I left my speech behind! And so I had to freestyle.
Despite some nervous excitement, I found that it actually made me focus on what was important. I think my message came across (you can see my speech below) and yes, there is definitely still room for improvement! :)
My acceptance speech...
Celebrating my award afterwards with friends (and a rather large surprise cocktail!)
Big news on the horizon
Work and talks have already begun on my collaboration with Taja Coconut and I can't wait to share what we're up to. (You can sign up to our V.I.P tribe to stay in the loop).
For now I am proud to say that last years finalist; our much anticipated Convertible Girlboss Backpack is now available on pre-order and will be landing in August 2018 in both full grain leather and vegan pu leather.
