Behind the scenes of the latest Jennifer Hamley Photoshoot
Phew! We are only just recovering from the awesomeness that was last week’s photoshoot. I can’t wait to show you the finished results but in the meantime here’s a sneaky peak into how it went down!
Step 1: Let’s get inspired!
Currently at Jennifer Hamley we are in the middle of a rebranding process, and so we are on a mission to create some new images that really communicate the fun and energy that we have going on (at the Jennifer Hamley HQ and throughout our growing tribe of awesome women!)
A week before the photoshoot began we got busy on our vision boards in order to clearly identify all the different kinds of images that got us excited and inspired and reflected how much fun we’re having.
In particular we wanted to create some exciting shots for our brand new website! (Yes! we sneakily launched a new website last week too. We were so busy we forgot to mention it! So please feel free to take a look around and let us know what you think! :)
Here’s some of the vision boards we created:
Step 2: The preparation
This was actually to be our first studio photoshoot with live models. Up until now we’ve always headed into the streets, but this time we wanted to try a new approach and create a different look. We also wanted to learn some new techniques and learn how to direct models and photographers in a different setting. Oh my god it worked so well!
Next, Amira and Florine (our 2 wonderful interns!) got busy preparing the logistics: contacting photographers, models, make-up artists and sourcing props. Amazingly within days they had built up the perfect team. Sourcing the props and products was especially exciting as we wanted to create a whole new universe in the studio. It was so fun hunting for colourful and wondrous things such as confetti balloons or cupcakes – which we forgot to use and ended up as a treat for ourselves at the end of the day – Perks of the job I guess!!
Step 3: The day of the photoshoot
We booked the Tichborne Studio for the entire day (Lawrence our host was a star!) so that we would have enough time to do everything we wanted. We all joined there and met each other for the first time, which was really exciting!
First of all, Lauren, our lovely make-up artist, took each model and made them look even more fabulous than they already are. It just seemed that the creative energy started to flow right away and the whole shoot started to take on a life of its own.
At any point during the day you could hear discussions flying around between all of us as angles, outfits, colours, poses and lighting were all discussed! There was this lovely atmosphere where everyone was pitching in and sharing. Perfect team vibes!!
The day flew by and was full of fun, craziness, and laughter! We learned so much about how to direct a photoshoot and we can’t wait to take the next one up a level again! This was such a great experience and we are looking forward to making it happen again.
We can’t wait to see the final results and to share them with you!
